| Hello Sleddergirl how are you doing? I took the 204 Trail up from Lagoon City right up to the connection with the B (main) line right into Orillia. On the most part it was quite good, with no water crossing, until you're up onto Lake Couch. My understanding is that it has 12" plus of ice. LOTS of sledheads were using it, along with Ice huts. The B trail ziggy zags up to Orillia, at times paralleling hwy 12 until you're just about at the Casino (which you can see further north), and then it crosses hwy 12 (heading west) for a short block until you're right onto Couch. So it takes you well north of the narrows between Couch and Lake Simcoe, which is open water. Once onto Couch it's a ride westward to the middle of the Lake. Once there, you'll see very helpful signs directing you to many distinations. (The volunteers should be commended, it's well marked and staked.) Going right takes you up toward the Day's Inn beside the casino, and left takes you back toward Orillia and many restspots - again well marked.
We went into Orillia and along the railway line toward the train station. Further along this route takes you toward Barrie. The OPP were patrolling which was nice to see.
Lake Simcoe is a different lake, and has also been used in the Lagoon City area, but until this week's bitter cold, would probably be a bit unwise in some areas. Certainly, any of the canals in Lagoon City looked most dangerous, as we have had warmer temperatures at times, making it very slushy and dangerous. Still, some sled heads have braved it, risking their machines. In areas, the water 'narrows' to pass under bridges throughout the resort, and the water flows a little quicker underneath, making the ice thin(ner). Best to avoid, even in bitter weather.
Have a great trip ! The ODSC and OFSC's websites will outline other trails in the area where there may be restrictions for travel due to open water. Cheers and happy (and dry) trails.

| Hi....Couchiching and the majority of Orillia District's trails are in great shape...we have had ongoing problems on the B trail above Sebright because of high water...we have not "opened" this section...hoping that will change this weekend...check our site and the OFSC for current info...also check condition of connecting trails in neighbouring districts.
The 204 may be an option...also the B104 (pending) official open of the Carden Club trails.
